Heidefriedhof Dresden lies in the Junge Heide woodland in the north of the city. Its trees frame coffin and urn burial plots, the funeral hall, the Pond of Remembrance and several substantial memorial areas. Established between 1934 and 1936, it remains an active cemetery as well as a place for exploring Dresden’s history.
Plan for the purpose of your visit
- Attending a funeral: Use Address and directions to reach the main entrance on Moritzburger Landstraße. The funeral hall is inside the grounds; allow time for the walk after arriving.
- Visiting a grave: Obtain its section, row and grave number first. Grave search explains which details help the office locate a burial.
- Exploring memorials: The Cemetery tour links the hall, Sea of Tears, memorial grove and rondel. Give funerals and private mourning priority along the way.
- Arranging a burial: Grave types explains the distinction between selectable plots, row graves, communal areas and woodland options.
Two plans for different purposes
The Cemetery map combines a filterable map with the operator’s grounds plan. Notable graves introduces a selection of people from the arts, literature, science, politics and sport. Its plan references belong to a separate personalities plan and are not official grave numbers.
