Obtain the grave reference first
For a search at Heidefriedhof Dresden, provide the deceased person’s full name and dates of birth and death. Add an approximate burial date, previous surnames and any known section, row and grave number. For a family plot, the names of other people buried there may help identify the correct entry.
The cemetery office maintains the burial register and answers location enquiries. Call +49 351 8498958 or email heidefriedhof@bestattungen-dresden.de. Specify Heidefriedhof Dresden, as the office also looks after other municipal cemeteries.
A visitor-plan reference is not a grave number
Notable graves presents a selection of publicly documented people. A reference such as “no. 13 on the personalities plan” identifies that flyer’s marked destination. It is not a section, row and grave number, and the directory is not a complete burial register.
Use the office’s information on site
Locate the supplied section on the grounds plan. Keep the reference available during your visit without sharing personal documents publicly. Check access and office hours before travelling.
An absent headstone or an unclear inscription does not by itself invalidate a burial record. Ask the office again using the exact grave reference; expiry of usage rights, clearance or reinterment can only be clarified for the individual case.
